Einmal mehr machten wir uns auf die lange Fahrt von rund 830 Kilometern durch Frankreich an die Nordküste nach Calais. Wir hatten gutes Wetter und null Verkehr. Gegen Abend erreichten wir in Calais unser Ibis Hotel unweit von der Fähre. In der Nähe in einem Bowlingcenter schauten wir uns das Viertelfinalspiel der WM 2018 zwischen Kroatien und England an. Leider verlor England das Spiel mit 1:2. Am Morgen nach dem Frühstück fuhren wir zum Hafen und reihten uns ein für die Fähre über den Ärmelkanal nach England. Die Überfahrt dauerte etwa 90 Minuten. In Dover angekommen, heisst es dann - Achtung Linksverkehr! Von Dover ging es dann Richtung London. In Dartford führte dann die Strasse durch einen Tunnel unter der Themse durch, wo wir dann weiter nach Norden fuhren. Nach einem Stopp im kleinen Ort Ely, erreichten wir dann Bury / Ramsey. Hier sind unsere Kollegen Carole und Graham zu Hause wo wir dann übernachten konnten. Am Abend dann ein BBQ und feines vom Grill.

Once again we made the long drive of about 830 kilometres through France to the north coast to Calais. We had good weather and zero traffic. Towards evening we arrived in Calais at our Ibis Hotel not far from the ferry. Nearby in a bowling centre we watched the quarter final match of the World Cup 2018 between Croatia and England. Unfortunately, England lost the game 1-2. In the morning after breakfast, we drove to the harbour and lined up for the ferry across the English Channel to England. The crossing took about 90 minutes. When we arrived in Dover, we had to watch out for left-hand traffic! From Dover we headed towards London. In Dartford, the road led through a tunnel under the Thames, where we continued north. After a stop in the small town of Ely, we then reached Bury / Ramsey. This is the home of our colleagues Carole and Graham, where we spent the night. In the evening we had a BBQ and fine food from the grill.
