Nach dem wir im Juli 2014 die Ferien mit unseren Kollegen Marlene und Christian geplant und gebucht haben, war es nun so weit. Pünktlich um 11.45 Uhr hob der Airbus A380 ab in Richtung Singapur. Nach einem ruhigen rund zwölfstündigen Flug landeten wir um 06.00 auf dem Flughafen Changi in Singapur. Nach der Gepäckabgabe wurden wir abgeholt und zu unserem Hotel Marine Bay Sands gebracht. Natürlich waren wir viel zu früh um im Hotel ein zu checken. Wir bekamen eine Karte und konnten so bereits den tollen Pool auf dem Dach des Hotels geniessen. Gegen Mittag konnten wir dann unser Zimmer beziehen, was nicht ganz reibungslos verlief. Wir bekamen nicht die gebuchten Zimmer, so dass wir alle mal wieder auf Carol‘s englisch angewiesen waren, was sich dann auch gelohnt hat. Wir bekamen ein Zimmer im 49. Stock mit Blick zur City. Später machten wir uns zu Fuss zum Singapur Flyer, ein Riesenrad mit toller Aussicht bei schönstem Wetter und rund dreissig Grad. Mit dem Riverboot ging es dann weiter, wo wir die Stadt weiter bestaunen konnten. Nach einen Apèro am River kehrten wir so langsam zum Hotel zurück und schossen noch in paar Fotos vom Sonnenuntergang vom Hotelpool auf dem Dach. Carol und ich machten uns kurz etwas frisch und fuhren mit den Boot zum Wahrzeichen von Singapur, dem Löwen. Von hier konnte man die Lasershow gut sehen, welche jeden Abend zweimal stattfindet. Auf dem Rückweg machten wir kurz halt beim Restaurant "makansutra gluttons bay", welches wie ein Markt war. Viele Essstände mit einheimischer Kost, welches für Touristen gemacht ist aber auch gut von Einheimischen besucht wird. Das Essen war einfach super! Später fielen wir, nach so einem langen Tag, einfach nur noch ins Bett.

We planned and booked this holiday in July 2014 with our friends Marlene and Christian! Finally the time arrived to set off. On time at 11:45 am the Singapore Airbus A380 left Zurich for Changi Airport in Singapore. We landed next morning at 6:00 am after a surprisingly “short” 12 hour flight. Clearing emigration, collecting our cases and customs was very quick and we soon met up with our driver who took us to our hotel Marina Bay Sands. We were of course too early to check into our rooms so we spent the morning on the roof top by the infinity pool. Towards lunch time we got our rooms – however not the category we had booked. It took a good hour to sort this out but we were finally given what we had booked – all’s well that ends well! Our room was on the 49th floor with a view over the marina bay and city. In the afternoon we headed off on foot to the Singapore Flyer big wheel where we got some spectacular views over the city – blue skies and 30C. We then took a trip on the river and after a cooling beer we set off back on foot to the hotel. A few sunset photos from the roof top, shower, change of clothes and Rene and I were ready to explore more. We took the boat across the Marina to watch the laser show by the Merlion (Singapore’s Lion Statue) which runs every evening at 8pm and again at 9:30pm. On the way back we stopped at Makansutra Gluttons Bay, which is a market of cooked foods. You have to choose what you want to eat, pay and find a table. Not as easy as it sounds. However well wort the effort. It was actually built for tourists but is also used by the locals. Then after a long long day we fell gratefully into bed.
