Heute waren mal wirklich die Beine gefragt und nicht das Auto, denn wir gingen auf Erkundungstour nach Vancouver. Am Morgen war es noch eher stark Bewölkt doch so gegen Mittag klarte der Himmel auf. Wir parkten unseren Wagen und machten uns zu Fuss durch Vancouver. Plötzlich erschienen uns die Leute etwas seltsam. Kein Wunder, denn wir waren plötzlich in einem Getto, welches wir schnell wieder verlassen hatten. Mitten in Vancouver steht noch eine alte Steam Clock. Es ist der Big Ben in Miniaturformat, welcher stündlich Dampf ausstösst und im Veiertelstundentakt hupt und pfeift. Am Nachmittag fuhren wir in den Stanley-Park, wo die berühmten Totempfähle standen. Von hier aus hat man auch einen schönen Blick auf Vancouver Downtown und die Lions Gate Bridge. Beim Aussichtspunk auf die Brücke entdeckten wir einige Waschbären. Als Abschluss des heutigenTages fuhren wir noch zu einem Aussichtspunk weit über Vancouver und genossen die Abendsonne und den Blick auf Vancouver.

Today we spent most of the day on foot exploring Vancouver. The morning was cloudy but dry and towards lunch time it cleared and we had blue skies again. We parked the car and then investigated down town on foot. We saw the famous Steam Clock which is really operated by steam. It chimes the quarter hour and steam comes out of pipes on top of the clock. In the afternoon we visited Stanley Park where the Totem poles stand. From the top of the park which is actually an island you can see down town Vancouver and the Lions Gate Bridge. We also saw these cute Racoons! To finish off the day we drove a short way up into the hills to get a view over Vancouver and enjoy the evening sunshine. We also saw signs of preparation for the winter Olympics in 2010.
