After a lovely plentiful breakfast al fresco we got ready to head off for today's destination of Gela on the south coast. On the way there were a few things to see and places to visit. First we stopped in Noto. A noble town with honey coloured, and in the sunlight, gleaming golden buildings. This is the most beautiful baroque town on Sicily. Also known for its narrow winding streets that require some practice and courage to drive through. Further on we visited Ragusa. This town is built into the chalk cliffs and is divided into Ragusa Superiore - higher up and the Ragusa Ibla - lower down the cliff. Our last stop before Gela was Caltagirone the “Queen of the Hills”. Here you can see a long staircase monument “Scalinata di Santa Maria del Monte” 142 steps, built in 1608 and each step is decorated with different hand painted ceramic tiles. Towards evening we reached Gela. Here we had trouble finding our B&B as all the one way streets were opposite to those on the TomTom we eventually found our way and parked for the night.
