Heute stand das Kennedy Space Center auf Cape Canaveral auf dem Programm. Um 10.50 Uhr machten wir die grosse Tour mit dem Bus über das Areal. Wir kamen ziemlich nahe an den Space Shuttle Endeavor heran, welche am 29.04.2011 ins All fliegt, als letzte. Auf dieser Tour konnten wir auch schon die ersten Alligatoren und Manatee (Manaties oder Seekuh) beobachten. Zum Schluss besuchten wir noch die Hall of Fame der Astronauten. Etwa acht Meilen nördlich befand sich der Wildlife-Park Black Point. Mit dem Auto konnte man den Trial von sieben Meilen abfahren und dabei Tiere beobachten, sofern es welche gab. Es war eine schöne Gegend, doch die Tiere fehlten etwas, wo immer die waren. Unterwegs zu unserem Motel genossen wir ein gutes Steak,  bei  Steve’s Diner in Titusville, mit reichlich Salat.

Today was the Kennedy Space Center tour day. Weh ad already booked our guided bus tour ticket for 10:50. We arrived at KSC at 9 :15 and headed for some of the exhibitions we didn’t see yesterday. Very interesting day. The space shuttle Endeavor is being prepared for it’s last flight on the 29th April and we got quite close to the launch pad. We also saw some wildlife on the tour – alligators, manatees, bald eagles with chicks, ospreys and many wading birds. After leaving the KSC we visited the Astronauts Hall of fame. I remember getting up very early or maybe the middle of the night when I was 10 to see the moon landing. It’s quite amazing what they have done since. On our way back to the motel we took a detour round the Black Point Wildlife Drive – a very pleasant drive through the salt marshes but we didn’t see any more alligators but many interesting birds including some more eagles.
