Der Regenschutz war heute unser Begleiter, denn es regnete fast den ganzen Tag. Also entschieden wir uns ein paar Sehenswürdigkeiten von innen anzuschauen. Angefangen beim Capitol, wo man gut und gern einen Tag verbringen konnte. Wir hatten zu vielen Orten Zutritt, wie das House of Representative und United States Senate Gallery. Wir besuchten auch das Air und Space Museum. Übrigens, in Washington sind alle Museum gratis wie auch das Capitol, doch um die vielen Kontrollen kommt nicht herum. Anschliessend noch ein Besuch beim Präsidenten Obama. Leider war er nicht zu Hause aber wir vor dem White House. Mit der Metro fuhren wir noch nach Arlington wo tausende von Soldaten begraben sind aus verschiedenen Kriegen. Hier ist auch des bekannte Memorial Iwo Jima. Nach dem Nachtessen und rund 15km oder 23500 Schritten, gemäss Fitbit-Tracker, ging es dann ins Bett.

Today was our day for Washington DC. Fortunately we had taken some photos yesterday as it rained for most of the day. We took the metro to the Capitol where we spent 4 hours touring the building – all for free! We also had lunch with the President – well in the Capitol building anyway – he has to eat somewhere! After leaving the Capitol building we took the metro again to the Air and Space museum. Here we could learn about the history of flight and wonder at the lunar module. Wonders it stopped raining so we then walked to the White house and then on to a Metro station which we took to Arlington Cemetery. After a short walk through the cemetery we headed back on foot to our hotel past the Iwo-Jima memorial. After a fine dinner in Ruby Tuesdays we fell gratefully into bed. After all we had walked about 15km or 25,500 steps according to our Fitbits!!
