Ich war vor Jahren schon zweimal auf Helengeli. Da gab es noch keinen Pool und es war eine reine Taucherinsel. In der Zwischenzeit wurde Helengeli bereits zweimal umgebaut, nach den Zunami und im Jahre 2015. Um es vor weg zu nehmen, finde ich den Anblick der Wasserbungalow und das riesige Restaurant furchtbar. Es hat mit Malediven wenig zu tun, wie auch die vielen Elektrofahrzeuge, welchen für den Transport der Ware und auch Personen benutz werden. Ich denke dies sind schon die einzigen Kritikpunkte. Die Insel ist sehr grün bewachsen mit viel Sand, so dass es wirklich eine Barfussinsel ist. Die Doppelbungalows sind auf der Ost -und Westseite gebaut mit direktem Zugang zum Meer. Am nördlichen Teil der Insel befindet sich das Jetty mit der Rezeption, der Tauchbasis und dem Spa. In der Mitte sind der Pool, die Bar, das Restaurant und der kleine Shop. Auf der Südseite der Insel sind die Wasserbungalows und der ganze Staff-Teil mit allen Maschinen und Generatoren, welche bei den letzten Wasserbungalows gut zu hören sind! Das Restaurant ist gross mit genügend Platz und das Essen sehr gut, reichhaltig und mit einer grossen Auswahl. Die Kleidung ist locker – kurze Hosen und ein T-Shirt und man ist angezogen, dies natürlich Barfuss. Es gib auch ein Strandgrill, wo man für $35 gut essen kann unter freiem Himmel und bedient. Die Auswahl ist nicht gross aber sehr gut. Können wir empfehlen. In der Bar gibt es vieles, dass im All Inklusive enthalten ist, nur bei den Spirituosen scheint uns die Auswahl etwas wenig zu sein. Zum Beispiel ist ein Malibu nicht enthalten, er kostet $4.- Für uns spielte dies keine Rolle, da wir eh keine grossen Trinker sind ;-) Den Pool haben wir nie benutz, den man hat ja vor der Tür den grössten Pool. Das Fitnesscenter bieten auch einiges. Carol hatte es jeden Morgen eine Stunde genutzt – SUPER!
Über alles gesehen eine tolle Insel mit gutem Preis- Leistungsverhältnis und sehr nettem Personal. Wir werden bestimmt wieder kommen:-)

We have both visited Helengeli before. Years ago before the pool was built and it was mainly an island for divers. It has had 2 renovations since, once after the tsunami and again completely in 2015. The new water bungalows and the huge restaurant building are not very Maldivian like as are the electro cars that run up and down the (900m long) island. However these are the only really negative points. The island is very green and sandy and is a real bare foot island. The double bungalows are on the west and east sides of the island and all with a direct view of the sea. The northern end of the island is a jetty with the reception building, diving center and spa. In the middle is the bar, restaurant and a small (expensive) shop. At the southern end are the water bungalows and a staff village where the machines for water preparation and generators are – can be heard from the last water bungalows. The restaurant is large and we never struggled for a table and the food is excellent with a good selection. The dress code is relatively easy, bathing costumes are not welcome in the restaurant and bar but otherwise anything is OK. There is also a beach grill which costs $35 per head – worth it once for a special occasion. The menu is small but very good. There are a lot of wines to choose from in the all-inclusive options plus several cocktails, the spirits selection is somewhat limited but can be lived with. Spirits not in the all-inclusive cost between $4 and $6 plus tax plus service charge. We never used the pool as there is a large pool which surrounds the island! There is a small but well equipped fitness centre.

Generally we were very happy with the package and very friendly personnel. I’m sure we will be back.
