Von Windwood, wo wir übernachtet haben, fuhren wir auf die andere Seite der Halbinsel nach Cape May. In Begleitung von ein paar Delphinen ging es mit der Autofähre noch Lewes. Die Weiterfahrt führte uns durch schöne flache Landschaften, wo auch nicht viele Leute wohnten. In Queenstown machten wir unseren Mittagsstopp. Weiter Richtung Westen fuhren wir über die Bay Bridge. Vom Sandy Point State Park aus konnte man die ganze Brücke sehen und Fotos schiessen. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren wir im Bundesstat Delaware. Gegen 16.00 Uhr erreichten wir Washington DC. Wir checkten ein im Motel Best Western Iwo-Jima in Arlington. Anschliessend machten wir und auf den Weg mit der Metro zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten von Washington DC. Leider ist vieles momentan eine grosse Baustelle, wie auch das Capitol. Nichts desto trotz, DC ist immer eine Reise wert!

From Wildwood we drove the short distance (20 minutes) to Cape May to take the 90 minute ferry to Lewes accompanied by some dolphins. The onwards journey took us through some beautiful but flat countryside. A lot of agriculture and not many inhabitants. We stopped for lunch in Queenstown. Further west we drove over the Bay Bridge. From the Sandy Point State Park we could see the whole bridge and take a few pictures. This is in Delaware state. Around 4 pm we reached our hotel in Washington DC. The Best Western Iwo Jima in Arlington. As the weather was still good we headed off into the city. At the moment the Capitol Mall is being renovated and the Capitol building is covered however still worth a visit.
